Domaine La Ligière

A family Estate The Bernard family’s estate was founded at the en of the 1800s and has been passed on from generation to generation. After several decades of polycropping, in the 1950s Maurice Bernard, the grandfather, decided to focus on viticulture. Jacques, his only son, undertook the wine estate with his wife Liliane. They planted many vineyard plots, achieving a total surface of 50 ha. In 2008, the first cuvée from Domaine La Ligière was created, when grandson Philippe and his wife Elizabeth built their own winery and took on the work started by their parents by farming organically. Close to the Dentelles de Montmiral, our land is soaked in sun. With the gentle Mistral breeze, our sandy clay-limestone soils are ideal to craft exceptional wines. Our vines are planted on a plateau at 80 metres. The land is rather dry and poor and very exposed to the Mistral wind. We are dedicated to respectully farming our terroirs in order to preserve this beautiful natural heritage. We do not use any chemical substances. Our plots are ploughed through or mown; natural compost nourishes our soils; minerals such as copper and sulphur protect our crops. We craft our wines with passion, combining technique and creativity, to make high quality wines with personality that will enchant your palates. Our vineyard mostly grows 50-year-old Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. We mostly produce Vacqueyras, as well as Gigondas, Beaumes-de-Venise and Muscat-Beaumes-de-Venise. At the winery, selected yeasts and enzymes are forbidden. Sulfites are used only minimally. We produce natural wines that are rich and complex, well received by critics. We are dedicated to respectful farming as our terroirs are the source of our appellations and our wines.
