Château du Retout
The cellars of the Château du Retout were rebuilt with concrete vats in the 1960s. In 1973, a new vat room was created, equipped with stainless steel vats. In 2020 this cellar will have been completely rehabilitated with new stainless steel vats entirely dedicated to vinification and the 1960 cellar only dedicated to storage.
Today the Château du Retout has 34.5 ha of AOC Haut Médoc and 1.5 ha of white grape varieties.
The vineyard is located largely on a hillock. In its center, a 13th century mill is erected on the highest point at 17 m.
Two large geological groups make up the vineyard: gravelly clay soils at the bottom of the croup and deep Garonne gravel at the top.
With an average age of 30 years, there are still plots in the vineyard that were planted at the end of the 1950s.
This vineyard, our heritage, is exploited with respect. His respect, observation and a hint of empiricism help to showcase his excellence.
