Via Nova Mencia DO Valdeorras Virgen del Galir, 2019
Spain
Grape Variety
Mencia
Aromas of fresh herbs, cut grass with a hint of leather lead to a relatively light wine. Sour redcurrant and yogurt flavours emerge on the palate leading to a grippy astringent finish. Mencía is another grape variety on the up – found in Spain as well as Portugal where it is known as Jaen. Mencía was grown on terraced vineyards on clay and decomposed schist soils around the village of Éntoma, Valderrosal and Valdemioto.
