Grape Variety
Carignan
Tortoise Creek is produced from 60-year-old Carignan vines in Cruzy and Argeliers, inland in the western Languedoc. It has a wild leafy, fresh undergrowth aroma combined with redcurrants and banana. It is medium bodied with a very firm natural acidity – offset by some residual sweetness. Half the blend was aged with French oak staves, conferring a distinct oak and spicy flavour with red cherries and sour cranberries on the finish.
