Initially a little muted on tasting, the wine benefitted from some aeration to reveal its dark fruit flavours. It has good concentration and weight. Shiraz was combined with Cinsault from 45-year-old dry-farmed bush vines (most vineyards at Groote Post are trellised and receive supplementary water from irrigation). Both varieties
were harvested on the same day and co-fermented in open-top tanks. The wine was matured in 500-litre French oak barrels with 50% new and 50% one year old.
