Nuits, in many ways, flies under the radar in much the same way. The terroir here (next door to Vosne-Romanée) is capable of real genius and this typifies the showy generosity of the top wines from this commune. A nimble nose of strawberry, currant and pomegranate integrates with a whiff of white pepper, vanilla and clove. There is a firm bite to the tannins – this is Nuits after all – and some sweet spice added to the mix. This is compact, versatile and absolutely classic Pinot. 2022-2025 – MP
