Finca la Reñana vineyard, owned by Bodegas Luis Alegre, was planted in 1948. It is located at 595 metres above sea level between Laguardia and Elvillar in the Alavesa region of Rioja. Vines are cultivated on limestone base soils mixed with fine sand. The 2013 is brick ruby in colour with aromas of ripe cooked fruits. It is smooth on the palate with vanilla, cooked fruit and treacle flavours – perfect for drinking over the next few years. Produced from a blend of 95% Tempranillo with 5% Graciano and Mazuelo, it was matured in new French oak barrels for 16 months.
