A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, it has red berry, raspberry and balsamic notes with meaty black treacle character. Initially light on the palate, the tannins make their presence known becoming quite astringent and grippy on the finish. Overall, quite a savoury, rustic wine. It was fermented in tradition concrete tanks then aged for 12 months in old oak vats. The Rasteau Appellation, north of Gigondas, is on the banks of the Ouvèze River, a tributary of the Rhône.
