When one thinks of South Africa generally images of lions, elephants, savannah grasslands and captivating coastlines emerge. Wine lovers however will instantly focus on the burgeoning wine industry that has burst onto the world viticulture stage coinciding with the end to apartheid in 1994. Now producing regions such as Stellenbosch, Darling Hills and Breedekloof provide outstanding industry award winning wine for the palates of consumers around the world.
In the South African winelands, the constant interplay between ancient geology, valley slopes, soaring mountains and costal breezes result in an extraordinary biodiversity. It is precisely this biodiversity that enables a world class viticulture environment. Your Saskatoon Opimian cellar has had on reserve for several years an exceptional cross-section of special (well-aged) South African gems that are ripe for tasting from some of Opimian’s best wines from Kershaw, Vilafonte, Vondeling, Aristea, and Groote.
Join us for a celebration of the riches of this biodiversity and the spirit that is South Africa in a beautiful pairing of Fine South African Wines and exquisite meal prepared by Chef Anthony at the venerable Saskatoon Club.
