An Evening with Nick Pentz in Kitchener
Area Rep Michael Lutzmann's Home
15 Lennox Cres
Third and fourth generation dairymen, Nick and Peter Pentz run Groote Post, their vineyard in the Darling Hills on the Cape’s West Coast, approximately an hour’s drive north of Cape Town. It is a historic estate with a traditional Dutch gabled homestead dating back to 1808, and was originally a guarding post against cattle rustlers. The Pentz family originally owned a dairy business producing milk and delivering it direct-to-door in Cape Town. The family no longer have a dairy herd, but the 3000-hectare estate raises sheep and cattle, grows cereal crops and includes a restaurant, Hilda’s Kitchen, which serves their delicious homegrown produce. 117 hectares of vineyards are planted on cooler slopes on clay soils benefitting from the ocean breezes, with wines made by Lukas Wentzel.
Opimian is proud to count Groote Post among its producers since 2016 and to offer this exclusive event to its members!
This will be a casual and intimate event. You will meet Nick personally. You'll hear all about his approach to wine making and his thoughts on the Global Wine Business. There will be lots of time for you to ask your questions and share your views. We'll be taken through each of the wines with a small food pairing for each. Don't miss this chance to experience South African wines right here in Canada.
We know its winter and that there is always a risk of weather. Register with confidence. If driving becomes a problem on the day of the event, just let us know you can't make it and you will receive a full refund.
